I'll admit my thread had like five or six rules when I search for a 1-on-1 RP and sometimes people ignore them. That's fine, rules can be worked out OOC once I'm contacted and it doesn't really annoy me unless I'm already in a horrible mood or I don't want to RP and they contact me because they found the thread about six pages back. However, there is no excuse not to at least learn what a person does and doesn't RP before contacting them. Contacting someone without a basic idea of what your common RP interests are is a waste of time. It's why Darknest, Gaia and most other sites have advertising threads and Rabbit Hole and F-List have kink lists. Seriously.
Anyway, this guy sends me a PM on Gaia with a gigantic page stretching image of a fifteen year old scene kid and some idiotic coding for his name. So I asked him nicely if he'd seen my thread and what he was interested in and he was like 'IDK, I didn't read it.' I sort of facepalmed but said 'Okay, maybe you could at least look at my plots, pairings and ideas?' He went and I don't know if he looked at it because when he came back and I asked if he'd seen something he liked, he said 'IDK, I like high school life'. First of all, I didn't list high school among things I do, infact I'm pretty sure it was right there with things I won't do.
I'm perfectly fine with people having different tastes than me or not liking to RP the same things, but when I have a post listing things I do and don't like, I think it's not unreasonable to ask that someone take the time to at least ctrl+f search their specific interest on the page to see if I'd even consider it since it takes no time and hassling me for two days about an RP I don't want to do. Also, having been through both public and private highschool (well, public for only a year) I can say without hesitation that it is NOT something I want to relive. I never understood the appeal of a high school RP and whenever I see one, I have to assume it's either someone who liked highschool or someone who hasn't been there.
Also, I tend to think when someone sends a message with a crappy page stretching myspace camwhore pic and a coded name that that's all they bring to the RP, smoke and mirrors, no substance. I'm not saying I'm right to think this, some of them could be awesome, but in my experience they usually are not.
TL;DR: Would it have killed you to make sure I actually RPed what you were suggesting before you spent two days trying to get me to RP with you?
