Hermes was on his way own from buying Greece groceries, but then this happened:

Okay, so Saturday is my RP day, it is the one day that my grandma is completely safe and my uncle is home to care for her all day unless something major comes up, a little treat for me since I really miss having time to RP. I was craving God of War and I got a reply, well, look at the obvious title parody of Blue Harvest (Greece groceries nonwithstanding, since that didn't actually happen in the RP, just thought incorrectly that it was clever) :
I specify when someone asks me for a God of War RP that I enjoy having a firm basis in Greek mythology as well since I figure if you can buy an M-rated game and RP it as well as just enjoy the carnage then you can certainly handle Olympian vices and other more 'mature audience' things. Also, I play Hermes unless the person wants to use OCs, in the event a person isn't so good at seeing a 'smaller' character as a switch rather than a flat-out 'uke' in a male/male RP, I double as either Ares or Zeus depending on the time frame.

Anyway, I get a response. The person wants to be an OC. Well, okay, fine, OC doesn't always equal Mary Sue and besides by OC they could also just mean a god from the pantheon who doesn't appear. They weren't. They were the demigod son of HERA, of all people, and a mortal. I was like 'But...that's so contradictory, she's the goddess of marriage, she can't cheat. She basically willed Hephaestus into existence BECAUSE she wanted her own kid but couldn't cheat on Zeus.' so the guy or girl (gender didn't come up) said 'Oh, well, same idea then.' I agreed because while it's unlikely it happened again, it was possible and at least they were trying. However, then we come to problems.

First being, since I stick to Greek mythology even in male/male RPs, Hermes is always bi rather than completely gay because he canonically (in both the mythology and the God of War novel) sleeps with Aphrodite almost regularly. However my RP partner goes OOC and says 'I don't think Hermes would do that, isn't my character enough for him? Besides, he's too uke.' I was confused because this made no sense in context to any source material, so I said 'Well, if you're uncomfortable with het scenes, I'll leave out the details of him being with Aphrodite, but Greek gods aren't exactly faithful lovers.' This sparks an argument which then becomes, of all things, 'Yeah?Well you also put a lot of gore and violence! It's gross!' Um...HELLO? God of War is BUILT on gore and violence, it's one of the game's selling points, particularly the third one.

Besides that, this person seemed only interested in sex and no story. I can't recall a plot at all, seriously, when I asked if they had a plot idea, they said 'Okay, Hermes and my guy meet and go back to my guy's place'. Now, I'm usually lucky with God of War RPs, they usually have great plots, many of which don't even INVOLVE sex (I did this one that was awesome where Hephaestus is frightened by his feelings for Pandora because her blue eyes remind him of a more sweet and innocent Aphrodite and Pandora doesn't understand and it's sort of heartwrenching watching them interact, but I digress...). So I told the person 'That's not a plot, that's an excuse for sex.' and every time I'd come up with a legitimate plot, they'd turn it down. (Personally, I thought a plot where Hermes hires their character as dumb muscle in a ploy to gain more favor with Zeus by causing trouble for Kratos was good, if a bit basic, especially since their character was DESCRIBED as big and 'kinda dumb'.)

TL;DR: God of War IS violent and also if you're just RPing to cyber it comes off desperate, plus 'let's go have sex' is not a plot.

doing it wrong, research is your friend, dumbass, gayfail
