I've read a lot of rants about super-awesome characters who can never lose a fight.  I could personally rant for a good few hours about the same thing, but I won't.

Instead, I'll pick a little part of it that I've not yet seen addressed, but makes my blood boil.  I have no particular story for it, as it's happened to me so many times they've all run

I'm a woman RPer myself, which is why it irritates me so much. I'd hope that a fellow woman would see I wasn't out to crush her character just because said character is female.

Exactly! It has nothing to do with hating on a character, but trying to be realistic.

Likely. Oh, well. I'm sorry they got needlessly offended. It was never my intention. Rant community, I figured having a ranty snap at the end would be understood.

Precisely! I feel it's a self-insert thing, most of the time. And those are always impossible to fight, no matter what the flavor.

You should have to apologize for other people's lack of common sense. As you said, it's a rant in a rant community. I think your ending was appropriate.

Oh, I completely agree! And you can't argue against irrationality like that. I was actually in a situation incredibly similar to this recently. Except it was the character that was the straw feminist and the player was totally cool with her character getting her ass handed to her in the end.

See, and THAT's cool! I think that's great characterization, giving a character such a flaw and making it real. It's the iC=/=OoC thing that's the problem.

Aha, that should read "shouldn't" not "should", but I'm glad you got what I meant anyway. And even though, you try not to offend anyone, there'll always be someone who takes issue.

It was pretty awesome. I wish more people were capable of not blurring the line so much in RP. RP is not srs bizniz.

God I know! But so many people think it is. I mean, I get being involved sometimes, and emotions running high in the thick of it. But after it's all said and done, everyone should shake hands and say it was cathartic. /$0.02
