Further, when you write about your character shooting a "pinto," I have wild images of your character shooting a really huge bean.

Or a very pretty horse. Which brings in more WTF?

Poor horsey... :-(

Maybe a pinto (bean) riding a pinto (horse) in a Pinto (car)?

Or... a pinto (bean) driving a Pinto (car) pulling a trailer containing a pinto (horse)?

Well, except that a Pinto (car) couldn't pull a horse trailer.

I wonder if a team of pinto (horses) could pull a Pinto.... Forgive my ignorance, I'm just a poor city girl. ;-)

Ugh.

Dirty Harry =/= real world cops.

What situations has this cop been in that he has to shoot someone? Really, if a cop ended up shooting someone, they have their guns taken away, put on administrative leave, and forced to attend therapy for a period of time - and I suspect if a cop ends up in too many 'kill someone' situations, they'll be an ex-cop, and possibly in prison.

It's so nice to see someone who gets it. When a cop shoots someone around here, it makes the headlines. Cops carry guns more as a psychological weapon than a physical one. When someone looks cross-eyed at them, they don't blow them away.

This person's been in a lot of... fantastic situations. Of course, everything he writes is based on something that happened to a "friend of a friend."

*rolls eyes* uh-huh... really happened.

I've taken some introductory courses for Criminal justice (though I wouldn't beable to met the physical requirements for policework), so these kind of stupid assumptions put me on edge.

I haven't even taken that much. I've just done a lot of research on police policies, proceedures and statistics.

They put me on edge, too, because we take pride in keeping our game somewhat realistic. Every time the police shoot someone in this area, it's big news. The police aren't some version of Rambo meets Christ, they're real people and this game is about portraying real people.

I'm having trouble discerning what exactly the problem is.
You framed it as shitty writing but you really just spent most of the post objecting to the silliness of the content, not the format.
And as for content, if this character was in a properly run World of Darkness game, killing 10 people in the course of a story is not unheard of at all. So not knowing what genre this is from, the outrage kind of loses something on me.
Any chance of elaboration here?

It's a bit of both. First, as mentioned above, I object to the content (in that he kills an outlandish amount of people) and the format (such as that he can't be bothered to capitalize a proper noun).

It's a police game, set in the modern day, real world setting. Sorry that I didn't make that clearer. :-)

Thanks, now it all makes a lot more sense.
