They do have breed shows. Unfortunately they have 2 year old futurity classes that mean your horse has to be fully schooled. Which, is part of the issue on starting horses so early.

I'd like to see ALL 2-3 year old show classes ended. So people wouldn't feel the need to rush their horses.

No joke...I've been riding my 3.5 year old for about 5 months and he still forgets his brains and doesn't remember how to be steered occasionally...

Probably the kid's first time on her. Clearly the "trainer" has put some hours in already.

ditto to that. There's no way it's a first ride. My babies used to spend at least a month in the round pen before graduating to the big ring and then MAYBE outside. Any horses I know sure didn't stroll calmly down the lane the first time they were ridden outside of the ring.

Your first ride and you're trotting and cantering? My colt is three and a half and he *barely* has a canter cue! I didn't get on him until he turned three. My first two months of rides were at a WALK. Then another two months of trotting. I only started teaching him a canter cue (as in, cue, take 10 canter steps and go back to the walk) once he was relatively solid at the walk and trot! We'll probably have to start over on the canter cues in the spring because its been too hard to ride at much more than a walk (no indoor).

Guess which baby will be still sound and usable at 25...

::scratches head:: That is a pretty well-developed looking yearling. But even if the kid's off on the age, she's still awfully broke for a baby, so they must have been at it for some time by now.

I see her parents own the barn. Check out the lovely example of safety in action in the bottom right-hand photo on the homepage...

holy shit... I just looked at their sales page, and I know a couple of those ponies! The third one down, Starfish, was a playmate of my mare when they were babies--they used to pal around together in a huge pasture as foals. I'm a bit sorry to see he's at this place now, probably being pushed too fast... he's only coming five and looks to have already been jumped extensively (though I'm a big fan of not starting over fences til four at least).
