Ellie: I'll never be as good a writer as Lois McMaster Bujold!
David: How do you know? She didn't publish her first novel until she was 37. You have plenty of time to catch up.
Ellie: [sulking] She probably wrote lots of good novels before that one was published, though. She probably wrote her first novel when she was a baby.
David: Before she could hold a pen?
Ellie: She didn't need to! While she was in the womb, she kicked out the next Great American Novel in Morse code, and her mother transcribed it.
David: What the hell was she, an Atreides?

Ellie: Sure, [Boss] gets really annoyed when anybody on the admin staff takes a vacation, but [Paranoid Office Manager] seems to think that when she's gone, he really goes into his office and throws dartboards at pictures of her.
David: Wow.
Ellie: What?
David: He throws whole dartboards? Not just darts? The whole thing?
Ellie: Shut up shut up shut up.
