SUNDAY, SUNDAY, GOTTA GET DOWN ON SUNDAY--*shot*

Ahem...okay, that happened...

Yesterday was pretty relaxing, spent mostly rewatching old Nostalgia Critic. I also attended Cope Formal, a dance for kids in the music department. I went with a group of friends, and danced mostly with them and a cardboard cutout of Neil Patrick Harris. Don't ask.

Today, however, was busy busy busy - mostly it entailed looking over research papers for a future assignment for College Writing - we were each instructed to pick a topic we were most curious to learn about, and, having little else to consider, decided to test the validity of past studies linking violent video games to aggressive behavior. For the most part, I have discovered that many of these studies were overblown and completely biased, and some of the addressed complaints (lack of social interaction and exercise, etc) have been subverted by the introduction of the Wii and Xbox Kinect; usually violence in video games is an insufficient factor in an unbalanced individual that might become violent, and many factors contributed in these cases that the studies didn't cover. As a gamer who considers myself to be nonviolent, I think many of this may have only come up by the most extreme examples (coughMortalKombatcough) and not gaming as a whole.

Also, when I haven't been looking over boring academic journals, I've been researching Green Lantern comics, if only as a diversion and to satisfy my own curiosity - I don't read comics as often as I'd like, and nowadays I mostly watch Atop the Fourth Wall. But the idea behind the emotional spectrum in the Lantern!verse really fascinates me for some reason...maybe it's time I take the initiative and read some REAL comics sometime.

Why the sudden interest? In all honesty, I blame Black Lantern Spoony. :P
