Merry Christmas everyone!

As the song says, "It's the most wonderful time of the year." I love Christmas for a variety of reasons:

1) Vacation - it's wonderful to have time off from doing work and just chelax. Doing nothing just feels so good at times, especially after barely getting any time off in the past 12 months.

2) Family - As much as I want to live at SPUC for the next 8-12 months, I still love my family. Christmas gives us the chance to spend time together and remember all of the good times. In a few years when (and if) I get married, Christmas will become even more important since I'm not around my family all the time.

3) Music - I love Christmas music to a certain extent. Although I can't stand hearing "Feliz Navidad", "Silver Bells", and lots of other 'secular' songs on the radio every half-hour, I really enjoy all of the great hymns and carols that have become so popular nowadays. There is so much wonderful Christmas music to listen to.

4) Presents - I admit, I enjoy receiving Christmas presents (as I'm sure most of us are). It's nice getting presents and cards from family and friends. It's even greater giving to others and sharing your love them with them.

5) The true meaning of Christmas - We celebrate Christmas because it commemorates the day that Jesus was born on earth. People had been told of His coming for several hundred years, and these promises were fulfilled in baby Jesus. He came to earth to tell people about God's love for each one of us. Through Jesus, we can come to know God. That, above all, is the greatest reason to celebrate Christmas.

If you guys haven't yet made plans, I encourage you to attend a church service/mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Even if you don't consider yourself religious, it's still a great way to celebrate Christmas and have a bit of fun too. Besides, it's one of the only things open at Christmastime :-)

Merry Christmas everyone!

Luke 2:9-11: "An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.'"
