“Yeah, go do what you goody-goods gotta do,”
Spike looked up and saw the slayer staring at him. “Slayer-” he started, then amended, “Buffy.”
Buffy’s lips parted as she thought to say something, then she ducked her head. “The message played out. Exactly like you said. So what, am I supposed to go confront Angel now?”
“No!” Spike reigned himself back from his aggressive stance. “I mean, it’s a trap.” He reached out to make sure she took full notice of him. “You need to go back to your Scooby Gang now, before something worse happen-”
“Someding bad already has happen,” Kendra said, her already accented words more pronounced in her anger.
“Kendra! What are you doing here?” Buffy asked, taking her eyes off Spike.
“Slaying da vampires,” Kendra told her matter-of-factly, “Or need I remind you of you duty again?”
“No, I…” Buffy shook her head. “There are more important things we need to figure out right now anyway. If you were spying, then you heard about the trap.” She glanced at Spike fleetingly, forcing herself not to question how fast she was believing his words about this trap. “I have to go.”
“Yeah, go do what you goody-goods gotta do,” Spike said with a shrug, already turning away.
“You just gonna let him walk away den?” Kendra asked, raising one eyebrow at Buffy.
“What, you expect me to nurture him back to his crypt?” Buffy asked, getting antsed off herself.
“No,” Kendra said forcefully. “I expect you to stake him.”
“Later,” Buffy said. “But we need to go. Now.”
Kendra remained where she was, crossing her arms stubbornly.
“My god, Kendra, did your watcher send you here to help out, or stand there like a slayer shaped statue in the middle of the graveyard? I’m going!” Buffy left without another look to either one of them.
