Buffy stepped out of the library, bedazzled. Why should she be caring that some great monolith had just unearthed itself in Sunnydale? With everything else happening around her right now, couldn’t Giles decide to pick on something of more relevance?
As Giles watched her leave, he wondered dimly much Buffy had really changed from the first time she had said she didn’t want to be a slayer.
A blanket shrouded figure stalked up the corridor to which she had been directed. Behind her, Buffy skipped a couple of steps, trying to catch up, knowing that she was late to class.

The female vampire's eyes widened as she realised that the slayer was not in the classroom she had just walked in on.
“Excuse me…” the teacher attempted from behind her.
The sunlight was already touching her features through the adornment of the blanket. She could feel it burning her face and cringed. She would not be able to make this message. It had all gone wrong.
As the immolation-o-gram commenced, Buffy came into the room on a run, trying to get everyone out of the class as soon as she realised what was happening.
Spike had not lied to her.
