My mobile rang this morning around 9:45, as I was fighting my daily battle with its snooze setting. The number was a 971 area-coded number, which I didn't recognize (vaguely, I thought it might be a Portland number, but not one that any of my friends might have). Against my better judgement, I picked it up. The person who began talking was female (I think), and started the whole conversation out by saying my name confidently, so I know this person is someone who knows me, and whom I should know. Unfortunately, that's as far as it goes. I have absolutely NO idea who this person is! We had a five-minute conversation about how this person was around Castro and 18th right now because her(?) car is in the shop, and she was going to go sit in a coffee shop, but could come bug me if I wanted, which I said was fine (thinking that at least I could watch out the window and recognize the person from down the block, and then not let her in if I realized it was a PSYCHO!), but then she said something about me sounding like I was still processing things, and that we could find each other a little later...and then we got cut off. And she didn't call back. And I am sooooo confused!

I hate when this kind of things happens. I've been running through all the possibilities in my mind. The most likely person for it to be is Shorey, as she would be one of the few people who could have my mobile number, and who would be in San Francisco -- she did tell me she would be here. However, she said she would be with several other people, and when I talked to this mystery person, she didn't mention other people. Also, Shorey would have e-mailed me ahead of time, I think. But then...there aren't many other people who even HAVE my mobile number. Most of my dormies do, but most of them don't have cars and wouldn't call me randomly like this. Mindy just got back from NYC a couple of days ago (yesterday?), and her number is in my phone, anyway. Who IS THIS PERSON???

I have half a mind to call her back and meet her for coffee. This is going to bother me for the rest of the day. Oy!
