So: college is going well. My first weekend was a very amusing one consisting mostly of being the DD/Mommy and observing terrifying eighteen year old hormones in action. I've never seen so many people dry-humping anything that moved in MY LIFE. Nor have I seen a house so full of people it appears to defy the laws of physics. Ah, the good stories I can get out of this...
ANYWAY, ON TO POLITICS:
In the wake of Blackwater allegations regarding Blackwater contractors essentially murdering Iraqis based on policy standards set by the CEO that views the conflict in the Middle East as one between "Christianity and Islam" (whew, what a run-on sentence!), I came across
this in the Huffington Post.
NPR probably didn't help my view on it, either; without the private contractors (and let's face it, mercenaries are in that mix somewhere, too), we wouldn't be able to hold the numbers we've had in Iraq and Afghanistan. So basically, if these companies decided to give the DoD and the Pentagon the big "Fuck you," they could do so and screw the American coalition over, big time. And on top of this, these companies aren't held to the same laws/standards as the United States Military. They're freelancing, and in my mind, that makes them immensely dangerous.
So. There's a blogosphere rant for the masses to enjoy. : /
