Why the backpedal, McCain my boy?

I find this intriguing...

Is it possible that the man has created a malestrom that he can't even escape? Is it possible to actually have a presidential nominee tell his supporters (discreetly, of course), "Shut the fuck up, you're all a bunch of retards?"

This is truly fascinating. I have to say I've never (and huhur, only seventeen so my mouth ( Read more... )

What do you mean by vote block-out?

As for the McCain thing, I watched that clip. I think the ignorance of the people in question is more the fault of their environment, but I'm sure anti-Obama propaganda doesn't help. It's so ludicrous. The woman who said she didn't trust Obama because "he's an Arab"... There is so much wrong with that statement: the fact that he's, uh, not; the implication that "Arabs" are inherently distrustful; and the fact that YOU HAVE TO BE BORN HERE TO BE PRESIDENT HERE. THIS IS BASIC SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM EVERYBODY: The President must be a natural-born citizen. The President must be at least 35 years old. The President gets paid $400,000/year. (Okay that last one is irrelevant but it's something I always remembered.)

And then there's the scary side, the hostility. The fact that at that Palin rally someone yelled out "Kill him!" and she didn't say anything. I don't care if the shouter meant Obama or Ayers, because what the fuck. Really. I have to assume that maybe it didn't carry over to her, or maybe she heard and was just kind've "???? um..." and decided to keep going. I have to assume that, because if she thought that was okay then she is a truly repugnant human being.

And then there was when she brought up the dreaded "mainstream media," and when the crowd turned on the press, someone "shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, 'Sit down, boy.'" Who are these people? It's so disturbing. If this was my base, I'd be mortified.

I think McCain was really trying to disabuse some ignorance with that woman, though. I mean, as opposed to giving a speech at a rally, here he had someone directly in front of him expressing a concern. I mean, I wouldn't have been surprised if she'd been concerned about Ayers and he gave a stock answer that questioned Obama's judgment while still giving an implication that he befriended a terrorist, because in a campaign it's easy to think the gray areas there are okay exploit. But when questioning whether Obama himself is a terrorist or where he was born, there are clear-cut answers and I cannot see McCain lying about them, especially recognized how roused the rabble is getting.

Agreed.

As to the vote-block out, well...there's been these really weird instances recently where hundreds of people in various states have had their voting registrations disappear. Whether it is accidental or on purpose, well, I'd like to think it's on accident but have a feeling that something is slightly fishy.

There was an article in the AP recently about it, but I can't for the life of me find it now...weird.

Anyway. That's the other something.

Hrm. =\ Stuff like that seems to happen every election. I think if it's in various states, it could just be computer mishaps or something. I mean, it's not out of the realm of possibility. I saw on TV the other day a story about how so many registrations don't go through because of simple typos when the information is entered into the computers.

Of course, given the purposeful disenfranchisement stories that came out of the last election... argh.
