Oracle Featured in the BusinessWeek 50;
SAP Didn’t Make the List

To create the annual BusinessWeek 50, BusinessWeek chooses the year’s star performers who are setting the agenda in their industries. The magazine has released its 2007 BusinessWeek 50, and Oracle is No. 27 on this prestigious list with an overall grade of A.

“The Class of 2007 is chock full of companies that are rewriting the rules of engagement in their industries. They are the agitators, the pioneers, and the game changers that are leading the way in the 21st century,” noted BusinessWeek in its cover story.

Noting that this year’s BusinessWeek 50 “may be one of the strongest groups of companies in the 11 years that we've conducted this annual search for the best performers,” BusinessWeek chose to profile Oracle.

In Oracle’s profile, BusinessWeek wrote: “CEO Larry Ellison engineered a string of acquisitions that have given a boost to the software giant's revenues. Now, Ellison has to prove he can manage this big, complex company. Among his chief challenges: Combine the best of the technologies from many of his acquisitions into an übersuite of applications, called Fusion.”

Companies in the BusinessWeek 50 represent the magazine’s choices as the best in class from each of the 10 sectors that make up the S&P 500. “We also chose only the best performers from each sector, to ensure that we were rewarding true management excellence and not just the ability to ride the wake of a hot sector,” explained BusinessWeek in its article titled, “How We Picked the 50.”
