Introduction to Code Blue and Season 3 Outline
Code Blue finally gets its new season this July after 7 years. The story follows this lapse as well. Articles and other news coverage can be found in the comm but here's a translation of the new content in FujiTV's official site.

(For the cast portion, I only had time to translate Yamapi's. I'll try to add the others if I have extra time. Amateur trans, feel free to correct me if something's off)
INTRODUCTION (2017.3.10 FRI. UPDATE)
In July 2008, the first and only Doctor Heli themed drama in Japan, "Code Blue" started. With its huge popularity, after the airing of 11 episodes, January the following year, 2009, there was a special. And in barely 2 years, January 2010, the 2nd season was aired. Even if it reached the end during its popularity, Code Blue returns July 2017! Starring the same ones from the past 3 times, Yamashita Tomohisa, Aragaki Yui, Toda Erika, Higa Manami, Asari Yousuke. Following the series, these 5 have made huge progress respectively. Everyone is classified as lead stars now. One can say that gathering these 5 now is a miracle.
Code Blue was the first to feature young people aiming to be flight doctors embarking on "doctor heli", an air ambulance which invoked a big influence to face life with that sincerity. The drama gave birth to the "special measure act related to securing emergency medicine by using helicopters for emergency" the doctor heli special measure act was promulgated following 2007. Still, the familiarity of the society was generally not high and after the said act aimed to promote deployment, Code Blue was aired with deep significance. In the 1st season of Code Blue, aspiring flight doctors nationwide gathered at the emergency and critical care center of Shoyo University Hokubu Hospital. This started the encounter of the doctors Aizawa Kousaku (Yamashita Tomohisa), Shiraishi Megumi (Aragaki Yui), Hiyama Mihoko (Toda Erika), Fujikawa Kazuo (Asari Yousuke). Furthermore, with Saejima Haruka (Higa Manami) who's already a reliable flight nurse, it was depicted at times they bump into each other, sometimes they help each other in life and death difficulties day to day, they gradually face each other and they grew. The last episode, in the horrible tragedy of the multiple collision incident in a tunnel, the 5 were frantic in lifesaving. In the special (2009), after that tunnel incident where the 5 were disciplined, the day they resume their duty, a train derailment accident occurred.
Second season (2010) centers on the 4 since it's just a little more until they get certified for the completion of their flight doctor training. In the climax, due to a plane crash, doctor heli was requested. They who have grown in that span of time, have to make decisions in that moment faced with disaster, keeping lives, one person at a time. The entire story depicts the real scenes of medical treatment based on an elaborate research simultaneous with each character's personality, a deeply moving human drama.
The reaction on such drama was practically the spurring of familiarity with doctor heli in assisting the emergency medicine system with the purpose "first-aid heli hospital network" (HEM-net) the president, Kunimatsu Takaji's words were clear. "In 2007, nationwide there were 14 doctor helis but March this year, we're deploying 50 to Nara, generally we've achieved deployment nationwide. It's thanks to Code Blue who informed the existence of doctor heli nationwide and its depiction of the splendid work by the participating doctors and nurses." (Kunimatsu)
While acting in the drama, the 5 too accomplished a huge leap. During the broadcast of the 1st season, they were told when they took the roles "expectation for a newcomer," "young hopeful," but after several works taking over lead parts, the connected hits.
Yamashita Tomohisa, this drama gives him the 5th time to lead a Getsu9 tying him at 3rd for the most number of leads. In FujiTV, Buzzer Beat, SUMMER NUDE, he had lead other dramas and movies too, also In varieties. Not just an actor but also has activities a singer.

It's been a long time since the 5 of us were gathered, also, being able to play Aizawa again, I am happy thinking I'll be able to let everyone see the growth. With the deployment of doctor heli that started from 14 aircrafts that has become 50 through this drama, I'm proud and honestly happy that practically the existence of doctor heli has spread to more people. Through this new season, even just a bit, I think I'll be able to contribute. I'll do my best to fill in all the passion."
Also, this time maintaining the fullness in welcoming the airing of the 3rd series, producer Masumoto Jun thinks
"In several medical dramas, there's just a few unique as Code Blue. There's no super doctors, but in this story that depicts a real doctor's troubles and growth, not just as viewers but everyone will be able to think about the support one receives from the doctors and nurses working on location in reality. So to speak, the story was like a diary of the 5 young medical practitioners, that even after the broadcast, those 5, where in Japan will they be sent to face life day to day, I sensed it in that manner. Once in a while, I meet with those 5 in the cast, in our talks, 'Aizawa, Shiraishi, for sure around this time...' it normally turns out that way. For that, there is no exhaustion in their story. In that talk, I thought of new aspects I'd want to show to everyone, the theme being 'them who have come of age already changes standpoint where now they have to teach a person.' In this season, the situation becomes them who have come of age already finishing their flight doctor specialization training teaching inexperienced doctors who were once like themselves. And also, eventually, as they teach, they arrive at reaffirmations, and passing in such, they develop as well. I want to deliver that to the viewers. A few talks have become strict but at any rate, it may be tough for medical practitioners the activities they have in growth but it's a big responsibility thus the big conflicts are in proportion. Entering your 30's, you reach crossroads in your life that causes hesitations on things such as marriage, career, etc. such story increased with depth, together with this splendid cast, we will execute, gathering once again a miracle, furthermore, bringing you a scaled-up vision. Also, for doctor heli to add 20 more in emergency medicine locations, a plausible point of view of an essential 70 aircrafts. I think strongly of that assistance in the facilitation of the spread of doctor heli in Japan."
With such thoughts reaching the hearts in the 3rd season, as in the 1st and 2nd season, to the end, in order "to save many lives," they will continue to push forward! Crossing over 10 years in their careers as doctors and nurses, the 5 who were once fellows are now full doctors and nurses at the foremost line in emergency lifesaving. Crossing more than 10 years in their career, they start to face that era where they reach various roads to walk on, their work, their private lives.
Aizawa Kousaku (Yamashita Tomohisa) left the lifesaving center of Shoyo University Hokubu Hospital, devoting himself as a brain surgeon aiming high to perform operations everyday.
Shiraishi Megumi (Aragaki Yui), due to the insufficient aide in the Shohoku lifesaving center now is struggling as the leader of the flight doctor staff.
Once with them in aiming to be a flight doctor, Hiyama Mihoko (Toda Erika) left Shohoku Hospital and is now an obstetrician and gynecologist in a perinatal care center.
Saejima Haruka (Higa Manami) even now continues to be an ace flight nurse.
And Fujikawa Kazuo (Asari Yousuke), together with Shiraishi supports Shohoku lifesaving, has become a lifesaving doctor with specialization on orthopedic surgery.
As they face their lives earnestly, there are things such as parting with family, coming across love, unfolding of a fierce battle with a rival and more fresh situations will be presented.
