My parents + their new iPod Nanos = ENDLESS HILARITY.
Mom: "But if you push play, why does it turn off?"
Me: "No, mom, I'm *holding* play to turn it off."
Mom: "That doesn't make any sense."
Dad: "So if I want to charge it, I have to plug it into the computer?"
Me: "Yes."
Dad: "But if I plug it into the computer it'll erase everything."
Me: "No, not the way [Thing2] set it up."
Dad: "But that's what it says in the manual."
::facepalm::
Of course, nothing beats my grandmother:
Grandmom: "What is an iPod?"
Me: "It's a thing that plays music."
G: "And it's really expensive?"
Me: "Some of them are."
G: "What else does it do?"
Me: "Some of them do pictures and movies."
G: "And what else?"
Me: "..."
G: "Can you make calls from it?"
Me: "No, it's not a phone."
G: [points to Dad's Treo] "Is that an iPod?"
Me: "..."
rest of family: [dies laughing]
All of which is to say that I'm doing the family thing tonight and tomorrow, and will probably only be online to read
yuletide stories tonight. (Which: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!)
