these last 9 months have gone by much faster than the 9 that preceeded them? I mean, I felt like I was pregnant for 9 years and here it's been 5 minutes and Michael's 9 months old. Geeze - I've never been more convinced that the addage that "Time flies when you're having fun" is the gospel truth. I can't believe how much he's changing. Every day he's more of a little boy than a baby.
At his last appointment he weighed in at 25 pounds and was 28 1/2 inches long.
His vocabulary is growing every single day. Literally. He's saying something new every morning when I go to rescue him from his crib. On Thanksgiving morning he was in there calling his daddy! It's been "Da da da" ever since. He's also gotten "blah blah blah" and "rah rah rah" down. I keep trying to get him to say "Ma ma ma" but he just laughs at me. It's hopeless! haha
He spent his first Thanksgiving here at the townhouse with Mikey, Jody and me. We had a really nice dinner and Mikey was a total sweetheart, as usual. He tried some candied yams and really liked them, but was not at all impressed by mashed potatoes with gravy. He scrunched his face and actually gagged! hahaha Might be because I had accidentally dumped Jody's drink in the gravy earlier? Who knew Coke was the secret ingredient for kickin' gravy?
Last weekend we hit Short Pump Towne Center (the big mall in Richmond) and Mikey tried his first bite of strawberry ice cream. Man did he love it. I think it felt good on his little gums! Seems my little gummy baby smile will be going away pretty soon here to be replaced by two bottom teeth. (Just in time for Christmas!) Anyway - the shopping season has officially hit the Richmond area. People have completely overtaken the roadways. Instead of just the regular "challenged" Richmond drivers, we now have people coming in from around the state to share their complete lack of roadway know-how. I've said it before and I'll say it again... blinkers are an optional feature in cars sold here in this state. People would rather have the fold down DVD players in the back seat than those handy dandy flashing lights. Makes me crazy! We're off to brave the stores again today with Mom and the girls. (Mom and Lizzie are getting their curly hair cut today at Legends, my new favorite place to go!)
We're going to take over Babies R Us in search of safety locks and this little Fisher Price Hedgehog. Mikey's become super mobile here in the last few weeks. Not exactly what you'd call "crawling" so much as what Matty has dubbed the "wounded soldier crawl". He sort of drags one leg behind him and crawls with the other. I'll have to get it on tape and put it up on his video archives. (Geeze, could I be a bigger geek? Hi. My name is Rebekah and I'm one of those mommies!) Hopefully I'll have his Thanksgiving pictures up this afternoon. There's one in particular with his Oma that I just love. You'll have to check on them to see when they go up.
It's about time for Mr. Nyalko here to have a little snack and then we're getting out of this joint and moving on to the toy stores. Seeing as how all of my updates are months apart, I'm going to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and New Year! May 2006 be filled with blessings, health and happiness.
Much love to you all,
Rebekah, Mike and the Jumperoo
