In the morning, Neal is at the bar. He's not a huge drinker - yes, he enjoys good wine, and yes, he'll do beer when it's in Peter's company, but aside from the occasional high-end bar this isn't really his scene.
Still, he's running out of things to do in the library. Might as well start fixing things up in here. And if he finds a few intact and empty bottles to give Nill for her window, so much the better.
Around midday he takes a break, gets a bite to eat and picks up in the library where he left off. He's over half way through the books in there at this point. When he's done eating, he gets back to arranging them alphabetically by language until he's out of shelf space. One of these days he needs to find an axe so he can build some new ones.
Afternoon finds him taking advantage of the sudden and briefly springlike weather, sitting shirtless behind his cabin, working with a quill and ink he stole from the castle on the blank sheets at the beginning of a book from the library. He doesn't feel that bad about drawing in it - it's in a language he can't read and has never seen before. Also he hasn't been able to work out how to translate it yet.
It annoys him.
What he's doing is recreating a black and white of Le Chahut. It's not his best work, he'd be the first to admit - but then, the materials aren't exactly ideal.
He gives up on - or rather takes a break from - that particular project when it's getting close to evening. He doesn't go far, just around to the front of the cabin (after he's pulled his t-shirt back on). Instead of going inside, he sits on the stoop and sketches a chess board in the dirt. He starts playing against himself, white versus black, until he can't see the letters he sketched in place of pieces.
Then out comes the communicator, so he can check on certain dots - and then try to leave a message for Kitsune.
