what I love on this Spring day

May 09, 2011 14:10

* Brushing Charlotte's soft hair before we left for a walk, and after I put a clip in her hair to hold back her bangs, she said, "Thank you!" in her sweet, chipper little voice.
* Charlotte wrapped her hand around my finger, and then I hold her little hand in mine.  She never lets go, not even to pull her unzipped sweater back up on her shoulders.
* Her thin, blond curls that bobbed and bounced as she walked with me.
* The muffled sound of my sandals on the blessedly clear and dry sidewalk.
* The sun on my face.
* The gentle ache and stretch in my legs and hips while we walked.
* Getting errands done while being wonderfully free of seat belts and sliding doors.
* Leftover lasagna for lunch - even better on the second day.
* Feeling the warmth and weight of Charlotte's wee body beside me in the chair.
* Watching her savour her tiny pink cupcake after lunch.
* Finding the movie "Motherhood" in a discount bin at a local store.
* Stopping in to see one friend at work, and talking to another on the phone as well.
* Charlotte asking me, "Is it still Happy Mother's Day? I'm going to color you a PICTURE!"
* taking a very bouncy Julia and Charlotte to the park
* Kim shouldering her responsibilities; making her own snack/early supper, attending drama rehearsal, and picking up a shift at work to make up for missing shifts later this week.
* Jack's text, lamenting that he hadn't heard from me yet today.  I remedied that immediately ;-)

being the mom, spring, charlotte, gratitude, a good day
