Yesterday afternoon, earth_moves (aka "Fred") came to town with her two little girls for a sleepover and movie night.  We made homemade pizza for supper loaded with pineapple, mushrooms, onions, peppers, salami, ham, pepperoni, and cheeeeeese.  OMG, it was sooooo yummy :-)  After everyone had been fed, Fred and  I left all four Littles (ages almost 2, 3, 4, and 8) in Jack's charge and we went to see "Eclipse"!!!  We've both read all the Twilight books and we've been looking forward to this movie for months - we were not disappointed, it was really good! Jack successfully wrangled the Littles while we were at the movie and as soon as we were home, everyone went to bed.

Charlotte and I were both up at 6 o'clock this morning and after some quiet morning cuddles, I made some breakfast.  Fresh fruit salad with bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple, and I made cinnamon french toast with warm, real maple syrup.  Yummm!   This afternoon, Jack and Kim went to work then Fred and I took the four Littles to our local museum for Canada Day celebrations.  The weather was perfect - not too hot, sunny, a little breeze - and we all had such a good time :-)

I posted on FB a few days ago that we had a gopher stuck behind the tire on my van.  This picture is proof!  He eventually got himself un-stuck and I chased him away (after he peed in fright on my driveway ;-)

Kim and I booth used the swiffer to tap on the wheel well to try and scare the gopher away.  When we could gently touch him with the swiffer handle, we realized he was actually stuck!

When Jack went out to mow the lawn two days ago, he found this baby robin in the grass.  It could fly but didn't try to fly away and I got very close for a picture, then we left him alone to make his escape before the lawn mower came out.

My "rainbow" of flowers in my front yard.  The 'blue' ones haven't fully bloomed yet but it looks prettier and prettier every day :-)

I have Abby's two concrete planters on my back step and I planted girly-colored petunias in them this year.

This morning I found Charlotte sitting in the recliner, wearing her Halloween pj's and petting our black cat.  Halloween?  Wrong holiday!  Today is Canada Day!

Charlotte and Kim nibbling salt & vinegar chips at lunch today.

Fred put temporary tattoos on all of us.  Her oldest daughter was thrilled with hers....

Charlotte (and Fred's youngest daughter in the background) were not so pleased with their tattoos - LOL!  They asked for them but once they were on, they both freaked out!

Love this picture of Fred and her baby :-)

Kim even put a tattoo on her cheek before going to work.

My beautiful, sweet Canadian girl :-)

Baby fell asleep on the way to the museum grounds so she napped in the stroller while we toured the museum buildings and checked out the festivities.

They had two "bouncy castles" that the kids could play in, for free!

A "general store" - very cool to see all the antique toys, groceries, and non-food items.

Charlotte checking out an antique baby crib.  My sibs and I slept in one just like this...does that make me old?

A pretty mom-and-baby calendar from 1947

Charlotte's fourth Canada Day celebrations!  2007... 2008.....2009....

Every year they serve fresh, homemade bread and jam at the museum for $2 a slice.  Fred and I were both too full from leftover pizza for lunch, so we passed on the bread but it looked very tasty.

This was a write-up about a local woman posted in one of the museum buildings.  She was a traditional community "nurse and midwife"

Julia, chilling out in the shade as we toured the buildings.

I got my hair cut last week and Fred commented several times about how she loved my new 'do.   This is a blurry self portrait that I took in one of the antique mirrors at the museum today.

Free Canada Day cake for the whole community - an annual tradition.

Julia and Charlotte enjoyed their cake

It was a great day and it's not over yet!  Julia wants me to take her to see "Eclipse" tonight, there will be fireworks afterwards, and then I'll have the rest of the evening with my beloved husband :-)  Next month we will celebrate 24 years together as a couple!  24 years and I still adore him, miss him when he's at work, and can't wait for him to come home and put his arms around me :-)
