finally, a public post
It's been a week or so since I did a public post. Within the past 9 days, my Grandpa has been hospitalized, diagnosed with cancer, and passed away. There have been several trips to the city to visit him in the hospital before he was transferred back here, family members have congregated from all over Canada, and there is just a lot going on. I've been trying to get some school work done here and there but I haven't had much success. And my Grandpa's passing just a day and a half before Charlotte's first birthday has sort of changed things a bit.
Anyway, tomorrow is Charlotte's party. Several of the people we invited have cancelled or are unable to attend, but hopefully all of the extra family members in town will come and enjoy the food and festivities. A picnic in the park, balloons, cake, a gajillion pictures, and plenty of bittersweet tears I'm sure.
Charlotte is finally getting her two front teeth on the top but ooooohhhh, she's been miserable. With the heat, her bothersome gums, and all the activity around our house today, she wouldn't take a nap so after a dip in the pool to cool off, she is blessedly asleep. My thanks to the teething tablets and infant motrin ;-) If she wakes up at 3 a.m. again and refuses to go back to sleep, I may just lose my mind.
Watching my Grandpa die, planning Charlotte's first birthday party....there are lots of thoughts of Abby these days. She will be remembered and included tomorrow and as soon as the dust settles, I will post my thoughts (and a pile of pictures!). For now, I have diaper laundry to flip, school reading to do, and some cool sheets waiting for me to crawl between.
