her name is Charlotte Faith
She was born at 1:35 this morning, June 22nd, one year and two weeks after Abby was born. She is pink, healthy, beautiful and breathing and we are all so very happy and relieved that she is with us. She gave one tiny cry before she was even fully born, and just enough squeaks and squawks after that to assure us that she was fully here. (Apgars of 9 and 9 for the birth junkies ;-)
I gave birth standing with my hands on my thighs, and she was in my arms a moment later. Kim and Jack witnessed her birth from behind me and Julia was there just a few seconds later. We cried many tears, Jack and I most of all, ate birthday cake at 3 am and took more pictures than necessary ;-) Unfortunately, until I get my computer back up and running, I can't download them!!
She has nursed three times like a champ and she's filled two of her precious cloth diapers with sticky meconium! We'll be home this afternoon and hopefully I will get a moment to post a few words tonight. Charlotte weighed 8lbs + 1/2 ounce, and is nearly 21"long, and she has *so much* dark hair!! She has more hair than my previous three babies combined, I'm sure.
My mind is crowded wtih thoughts I want to write and remember and I haven't even begun to sort the emotions from last night.
birthingway called me several times to encourage me during labour and tell me about all the LJ people who were praying and lighting candles for us. It brought tears to my eyes to know that there were candles burning around the world, including three that Dina lit - one for me, one for Charlotte, and one for Abby. Such love.
