Sporting a new pink skort and her crimped-from-braids hair, Julia was off to school this morning. Kim and I ventured out into public late morning to attempt to find her a pair of shorts. Clothes shopping here is slim pickin's at best, but shopping with a teenager??? Oy.
We picked up lunch at Subway and met Julia at her school to all have lunch together. All 25 kids had parents and/or grandparents there to nosh with, and the school provided cake and juice. With the kids sugared up and hyper about going swimming they began the graduation program. The kidlets sang songs and recited poems, posed for pictures and received their report cards and diplomas. Jack's "one short job" this morning developed into something more complicated and he wasn't able to be at Julia's grad, but I did take a lot of pictures (of course). We're both sad that he missed it but he just couldn't get there.
I had a few comments about still being pregnant, but I didn't hurt anyone or cuss them out. One mom said, "You look like you're going to explode!" I told her, "Then back off, in case I explode all over you." ha,ha,ha.
Another mom, looking at my belly, said "So are you way bigger with this baby than the others?" Uh, no. Thanks.
One mom actually gasped when she saw me and said, "Not yet??" as if it were late August, and not just 6 days before my due date.
So....after sufficient applause, photos, and lower back pain all the kids raced to get their swimsuits and we headed to the pool. Julia had a great time splashing with her pals, but I am so tired and achey that I am near tears here. Time to root myself into the chair with my feet up, a book propped on my belly, and a cold drink within easy reach.
