I've driven about 1400 km since last Wednesday, making trips back and forth from the city with loads of boxes and one round trip to attend a birth. I am SICK of highway driving and I still have one more trip to make tomorrow to start my week of work. Bleh.
I likely won't be here when the last few things are packed up and the furniture is loaded since I'm working. I put out a call for help with moving from some friends and so far, nada. No one on this end is willing or able to help us load up our moving truck. I guess a Facebook plea is our next step. Thankfully, my cousin's son is willing to help us unload at the other end at least.
Kim made a quick trip back to SK today. She met us in Saskatoon, toured the house, went with us to buy paint and had lunch. Hopefully I'll see her for a few minutes tomorrow as she makes her way back to her home. She seems to be doing well, and I noticed her new tattoo that she got while she was in BC last month.
Cable, phone and internet are up and running in the new house. Now that I've spent some time there and some of our things are there, it's starting to feel a little more like 'home'. A little bit, anyway. While we waited for Kim to arrive this afternoon I pulled a few weeds in the yard and finally took the time to walk around the yard and check out the areas along the fences and flower beds. Reminded me of how a new parent checks out all the little details of their newborn; counting toes, touching their chubby legs, etc.
Now to bed. A very long list of things to get done tomorrow before my week of paid work begins.
