I was up for 23 hours yesterday and finally crawled into bed at 5:30 a.m Toronto time.  It was soooo wonderful to crawl into my own bed, sleep on my own pillow, and fall asleep with my beloved.  After a few hours, the girls arrived at home and we walked them to school with the warm morning sun shining, and fall leaves crunching under our feet.

Several of my friends arranged a group coffee date to get together with me this morning; they've really come together to support me while I'm gone by helping with childcare, bringing meals over for Jack and the girls, and encouraging me.

Jack and I went to the girls' school to have pizza for lunch with them, a school fundraiser.  It was Charlotte's first school fundraiser lunch and she was very excited.  Julia brought her own lunch down to Charlotte's classroom so the four of us crowded around a little table and ate lunch together.  And I had a chance to meet Charlotte's teacher and talk with her a little.

We spent the afternoon doing domestics - grocery shopping, supper preparation, dishes, laundry.  I'm so happy to be in my own home again, even if it's only for a few days.

I think I've chosen my research topic for school, something to do with smoking cessation in pregnancy.  A couple of weeks ago the director suggested we look up information about harm reduction and smoking in pregnancy and it seemed pretty interesting.  I just have to wait and see if my topic is approved or not and then I can go ahead and get started.

I have fetal health surveillance as soon as I get back to Toronto and I'm having a heckuva time studying.  It's hard to be home and yet have to distance myself enough to concentrate on school stuff :-/  On that note, back to the books for a while.

research, there's no place like home, studying, impp, kindergarten, friends
