Up before 6 a.m. and on the road before 7. Kim is home holding down the fort while we're gone. This is such a fabulous thing, to not have to worry about farming out the kids and pets and Old One. They're all in good hands.
One of my good friends called me yesterday and told me not to worry about suppers while we're gone - she'll be dropping food off every night. And she's baking Abby's birthday cake for us too. I have a lot of good people in my life, and I'm very grateful.
The flight to TO was fine - my ears, sinuses and eye were all free from pain and pressure - it was such a relief! I studied, read a book, and for once I actually enjoyed being shoulder to shoulder with the flight passenger beside me ;-) Everything has gone very smoothly; the flight, getting our luggage, the airport shuttle, checking in.
By the time we landed we were several hours past Hungry Time so as soon as we checked into the hotel we went to Elephant and Castle. It was quite loud in there but the food more than made up for it. Guinness meatloaf with smashed redskin potatoes, fish and chips...... yum!
We walked off our supper and toured down Yonge street over to the RU campus. Easily found the building I have to go to tomorrow - it's a very short walk from our hotel. Downtown here it's very busy and loud but I'm quite surprised at how skinny the roads are! I had pictured Yonge and Dundas as these huge 6 or 8 lane roads but they're skinny 'horse and buggy' roads instead. Such narrow arteries in the heart of Toronto.
Jack and I discussed this and I believe this is the first time in our married life that we've flown anywhere together, without kids. And we haven't been away alone together overnight since we went to Dawson Creek......2 years ago? Three? And today I flew over the Great Lakes, traveled further east across Canada than I ever have before, and I walked up Yonge Street in Toronto. I'd say that's enough for one day :-)
Now, my study cards are calling my name.
