It's late, but I'll do both.
Kim came home for the weekend and arrived late last night. It's nice to have her home for a visit. She sick with tonsilitis (again) so I sent her to emerg to see the doctor on call this morning and get a prescription for abx. In these short, quick visits home it's difficult to work in all the necessary things like haircuts, doctor appointments, banking, and such but it's good to have her home for a bit.
A trip to the city today for International Day of the Midwife. I met the midwifery manager for Saskatoon's midwives, chatted with all of the midwives in Saskatoon, and enjoyed being surrounded by tiny babies, round mama bellies, babies on the breast, babies in wraps and slings, and proud daddies holding sleeping babies. As lovely as it was, it felt very unfamiliar - I can't wait until it feels comfortable and familiar again. Even when I wasn't doing births, I had a baby of my own but now that I'm past all that AND not attending births or caring for pregnant women, it all feels a bit foreign.
Everyone was very kind and very excited that I'll be going to the OSCE's next month. They insist that I will do very well, finish the program in Ontario and come back here to practice. No pressure, right?
Julia now has all the $$ gear she needs for her first softball game tomorrow (cleats, uniform, socks, knee pads, helmet etc) but it's raining and is expected to rain all day tomorrow as well so either the games will be cancelled, or I'll be sitting on wet bleachers in the rain watching Julia slip around the bases.
And now, with the help of a large Tim Horton's double-double, I'll hit the books for a while.
