I am tearfully desperate to not be needed for a while

Mar 12, 2012 12:02

I have felt pulled in a million directions all day today and I'm at the point now that I don't want to hear my children speak.  I just cannot multi-task anymore today.

Nothing bad happened today, it was just busy.

* I took the girls to the public library; they were both thrilled to borrow some books and I picked up a book I had ordered as well.

* went to the cemetery to take Spring flowers to Abby.  It was cold and windy, but nice to not have to trudge through the snow to visit Abby's resting place.

* made a phone call regarding the possibility of a clinical clerkship for me next winter.   That was a bit nerve-wracking, but it went well.

* read "Pinkalicious and the Pink Pumpkin" to Charlotte.  She only asked me 4 bajillion times in the 20 minutes it took us to leave the library, go to the cemetery and come home.

* dropped off a photo prop at my friend's house; she's helping organize our community's 'Princess Tea' coming up this weekend.  Tickets are bought, girls have fluffy dresses to wear but they need a bit of sewing, and do they have shoes that fit......?  More to do.

* washed a load of winter mitts, scarves, and winter coats, so it should snow soon ;-)  And now there's a mountain of winter gear piled in the living room waiting to go to storage.

* made a big batch of cheerio breakfast cookies and bagged them for a bake sale this week.

* Fed and watered the dishwasher and washing machine several times.  And I did dishes by hand 3 times today?  Baking - gotta love it.

* deposit grocery money for the starving student, then a FaceBook chat about her trip home with The Boyfriend.

* sweeping and wiping up the muddy, gritty floors from the girls going in and out the doors a hundered times today.

* Charlotte had preschool today.  Crafts of snowmen were replaced with leprechauns on the livingroom walls today.

* mentally tried to keep track of where Julia was; she played with friends all day going to their houses, to the park, to our house and back to their houses.  How many times did the screen door open for me to kear Julia's "MomcanIgoto......"??

* Answer my phone, reply to texts, see who was BBMing me - most often when I had cookie dough on my fingers, wet soapy hands, or was trying to answer Julia's question "MomcanIgoto..."

* kids to and from dance.  Information regarding required makeup for Julia and Charlotte left me spitting and hissing.  Specific colors and brands of lipstick, blush and eyeshadow!?  Seriously.  I am so not into this - I just wanted the girls to have a chance to dance for fun, not to $pend $$ on costumes and lipstick and have to sweat about how I'm possibly going to get Charlotte's hair into a bun next week for pictures!  *exhale*  I think we're doing gymnastics or karate next year.  No lipstick required.

* tidy and vacuum the family room, flinging dolls, socks, and tiny plastic shoes into their bedroom.  My throwing skillz are improving daily.

Now, Mike & Molly, a cold drink and a warm blanket while I indulge in a novel.  ESW can bite me tonight.

being the mom, spring, impp, busy day, dance
