I've typed and deleted many times in the past few days. Nothing major to report, just feeling very quiet.
In two months we'll be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We haven't made any plans to do anything or go anywhere and I'm not sure if we will or not. Finances, childcare, work schedules, and now having the responsibility of having Jack's 88 year old father living with us makes romantic getaways very challenging.
I had a nice chat with Jack's dad today. He often tells me that he feels like a 'bum' living here, having us take care of him etc - today I reminded him that I lived with them for a year while I finished high school, and then our family moved back in with Jack's parents for almost a year when Kim was very young. He didn't remember me/us living with him but said he was glad that we'd had somewhere to go when we needed a place to stay. We also talked about visiting the cemetery and how we'll plan a nice headstone for my MIL this summer.
This afternoon while Julia was playing at a friend's house, Charlotte and I went for a walk. We splashed in puddles, stomped through slush, and shopped a bit.
I rented "Breaking Dawn" this afternoon and let Julia watch it. I skipped two scenes from their honeymoon but she was so excited to see the movie, she didn't complain a bit.
Charlotte snuggled up on the couch beside Grandpa for a few minutes before she went to bed. It was so nice to see him smile, to know that he can enjoy having his grandchildren around every day.
In addition to spelling and writing her own name by herself, Charlotte can now spell and write "halloween" and "mom".
Julia and I watched the DVD of her hip-hop dance routine - she's shy about practising in front of anyone but she will be performing in front of an auditorium full of people, in less than 3 months.
While I was at work on Friday I called and registered Charlotte for Kindergarten. I had a brief weepy moment before I continued with my work. It's another milestone for Charlotte that Abby will never have, but it's also my baaaaaaby starting kindergarten! So bittersweet. *sniff*
