The big window in my office faces a huge air conditioning unit inside a small u-shaped area of the building, so my view is mostly exterior brick walls and a couple of other office windows. In the morning, it's still dark for a while and until my co-workers arrive adn light up their offices across from me, it's pitch black outside my window. Snow gets caught up in the corner and swirl around constantly outside my window, making a minor snow storm look like the blizzard of the century. The snow drifts sure pile up there, too!
Last night I was awake more than I slept - the cat was puking, Charlotte was coughing and then complaining of a sore leg, the dog was pawing at the door of her kennel, then *I* was coughing - it was bloody awful. I felt fine at work today, worked really hard and got a lot done, but now that I'm home I just want to find a blanket and grow roots into the couch. I'm glad I made a pot of chili last night (for supper tonight), so it's bubbling away on the stove now. Jack has been out in the snow and cold all day, hunting Bambi - he'll have a hot supper waiting for him when he gets home.
I went to a friend's house last night where 6 of us gathered for wine, cheese, and chocolate cheesecake to do some scrapbooking. We were telling stories about our Vegas trip (to the 3 friends who hadn't been there) and we were all laughing so hard that my stomach still hurts today! I didn't get any scrapbooking done, but it was fun :-)
Parent teacher interviews today; everything is pretty good. As usual, Julia's only issues are that she needs to practice reading out loud (to learn how to self-correct), she is VERY social in class, and often hurries through her math and makes careless mistakes. Socially and academically, she's doing well.
One of our PHNs came in to my office today to let me know that there have been cases of measles reported and I should consider getting Charlotte the MMR as soon as possible. I still have to get the flu shot as well (work policy). Makes me want to cuss and mutter and kick at the dirt all the way to the nurse's office :-/
I have a hot date with my husband to see a
movie this weekend, the girls have a birthday party to attend, I'm hoping to start decorating for Christmas, and I'm finally getting Charlotte's annual portrait done! I think Sunday will be a pyjama day - I've earned it.
