Remember Wing Commander? Remember its spin-off, Privateer? Flying around in space exploring and shooting and trading all in the name of profit? That was fun.
Well then, let me tell you about
Ascii Sector. It's Privateer, only in 2D ASCII! Sounds primitive? Trust me, the only thing that might be considered primitive about it is its graphics. The gameplay is vintage Privateer, and so much more. There are more kinds of ships, commodities have a dynamic economy, missions are much more varied, and there's even ground combat! And if you're looking for story missions, you can download them or make your own.
The best part? There's still more to come! Fleets that go around conquering systems, bounty hunters that can go after you unless you pay off your fines, two more quadrants to populate, and who knows what else? This game is insanely addicting, even more so than the game it was based on. Who needs 3D graphics? Freelancer may have the lore, but Ascii Sector has the privateering!
