I don't know why, but I suddenly feel a sense of appreciation & gratitude for the people around me, and I want to express it..
I'm grateful to my parents, who have both given me life (given me 2 brothers), and who have helped me become who I am today.
I'm grateful to my dad, who has never stopped supporting me in whatever I wanted to do (i.e. learning piano and pursuing my studies in America).
I'm grateful to my mom, who cooks wonderful meals that keeps me full, who listens to what I have to say and never judges, who even till today never stopped being a mom, and who also helped me strengthen my faith in myself, the mystic law, and people.
I'm grateful to my brothers, for whom without them, I would never know what it's like to have siblings.
I'm grateful to my grandparents, for without them I wouldn't have such wonderful parents.
I'm grateful to Josh for he showed me what love and respect really are, and that I can open my heart and not be afraid to be myself.
I am grateful to my friends (esp. Janice, Eileen, Amelia, Huda, Ifah, Tulsi, & Ivan) for they taught me that friendships can last despite our differences.
I am also grateful to people whom I may not like (or vice versa) for you all helped me to understand the true meaning of friends and helped me strengthen my faith too.
I'm grateful to my piano teacher, Ms. Gertrude Ngui, for patiently guiding and pushing me to achieve better results in learning to master playing the piano. I am probably one of your laziest students, but you never gave up on me for 10 long years, and I'm grateful for that.
I'm grateful to 3rd Soka Gakkai President Daisaku Ikeda for standing up alone and spreading the Buddhist ideals of Nichiren Daishonin outside of Japan in order to allow more people to connect to the mystic law so that they can attain happiness just as they are.
Sensei, I'm eternally grateful to you for your efforts so that my grandparents, parents, family, and I can practice this Buddhism in this lifetime. I want to continue fighting together with you for the sake of world peace and for the happiness of all humanity.
I'm grateful to my SGI family for they are constantly around to support me in my practice, never letting me succumb to my fundamental darkness.
I'm grateful to Kotekitai for without it, I would not learn what it's like to dedicate your life to encouraging people through music and through our lives.
I'm grateful to Singapore for without it, I would not know what home really is, or how safe our country is.
I'm grateful to America for without it, our world wouldn't be what it is now.
I'm grateful to Mother Earth for providing us the conditions to live on, and letting us appreciate her beauty.
I'm grateful to the people who created music, who invented light, electricity, TV, microwave, conventional oven, cars, hairdryers, toilet bowls, MRT, who built roads, buildings, telephone lines etc etc. (These inventions/creations are awesome!)

In a world where more and more people see the pursuit of material matters as important, I'd rather choose to appreciate what I have than what I don't because material matters don't define me as who I am.
I create my own happiness, and that's how it's going to be. :)
