Ten years ago or so, I went to compete in the Knoxville Slam. It was an average Slam, nothing special, other than the fact that it was a ladder tournament. This meant each competitor competed against one other person to advance. In the first round, I think I beat Randall Brown, while Jack Godsey beat Pat Storm. In the second round, Jack was beaten by John Grayson (Devilbat), and in the third round, I beat Devilbat. For my win, I got the "Acme Big Box O' Mystery," a cardboard box full of stuff that they would not reveal until someone won.
In the box was:
one echo microphone
one box of modeling clay
two leis
one package of Spider Man Slammers
one copy of I'm OK, You're OK
one copy of Starsky and Hutch #2
one nightlight, orange bear faceplate
one package of baby keys ("keys to your Strap-On device," since this was an extension of the Strap-On Poetry reading)
one pack of Black Jack gum
one box of Kermit the Frog dinnerware (cup, bowl, plate)
For the record, the box has just been opened, and whatever is still in acceptable condition has been given to Zoey. This is by way of being a record.
