Wtf?
Well, there goes my 8 weeks off. What the hell happened? I was done teaching a month ago, and yet I have little to show for my "time off." I was supposed to be on top of that whole master's thesis thing by now, but oh well.
Things have been down a bit lately, as usual. I am desperately trying to find a worthwhile part-time gig for the fall semester as I am no longer teaching and thus out one fat stipend.
I have been called upon once again by my radio friends in Chicago for some fill in work in August as they are very busy with Lollapalooza and all. Is it worth it? After all, the pay is $35 an hour, but it's a 480-mile round trip. So say I work the overnight next week: that's 12-5:30a, so 5.5h x $35 = $192.5. Tolls are $6.60 round trip, gas will be roughly $75...so basically $100 for a 7 hour drive and 5 hour shift. Sure, why not.
I have a meeting with a PhD candidate friend of mine who has already passed through the road of the MA in my field, so I expect his knowledge on how to get through the trials of forms and study guidelines. Bleh.
I have become a hermit. I leave the house exclusively for school or gym related needs. I know I need to get out more, but I just don't want to.
