Art: Durham Canvas WIP (& a Small-ish Fandom Ramble)
As promised, Work In Progress shots of The Canvas. (Which will probably be called 'Durham', but for now it's just The Canvas.)

Close-up of the top right hand corner (AKA: The Busy Corner, at the moment):
It looks ... kind of a lot more awesome in real life. I'm insanely pleased with the Sanctuary Knocker (the green, rather animalistic face near the center with the big nose). I'm proud of the horse (top right, near the corner), too; that was the first photo I painted. :D
Not so pleased with Neptune (the guy spearing a fish on the left, all on his lonesome). His head looks too big and dark, but I've 'fixed' it over and over and it isn't getting any better. There are other iffy bits, but I'm leaving them for the time being in favour of trying to get as much covered as possible by next Saturday, ready for the exhibition. (Plus, I'm probably the only one who's going to notice them. >.>;; *perfectionist*)
Overall, I am pleased with it, though. It's looking good so far, I think! (From the amount of time I've spent on it - over 10 hours, at this point - it should be! XD) But, you know; tell me what you think. I genuinely would like to know.
Scotty has now usurped David Tennant in my affections. Well, not really; but he has usurped him from my desktop. XD I now have Intense!Serious!Scotty on my desktop, wearing his Delta Vega outfit - mmm, leather jacket - and looking shinier than Simon Pegg has any right to look. I'm disturbed by this obsession! Disturbed, I tell you!
Interesting note: Scotty beat Chekov for the desktop position. UM. That sounds a lot more perverse than it actually is. (I went on a downloading binge on the official Star Trek XI website. They have desktops! And the site itself is really cool! It plays snippets of the movie soundtrack at you! The names of the pieces are mostly really bad puns. <3 Look!)
I have about a billion Star Trek fic ideas. Some are gen (exploration of Jim's relationship with his not-evil!stepdad); some are slash (Scotty/Chekov in Disneyland/Disney World thanyouforthatonekinkmeme); some are, uh, a bit weird (*cough*Scotty/Enterprise-don'tjudgemeblamethekinkmeme!*cough*). I want to write them all - but I also don't want to totally slaughter the characters, and I feel that I would. D:
Ah, well; maybe I'll just do it anyway, and risk having all the proper fans dogpile me for being really crap. *shrug* I could take it. :S Probably.
BIGBANG UPDATE: I have 28,907 words. I'm going to attempt to write one of two 'missing scenes' later (after tea): either The Feast, or The Coronation. Something else entirely might come out instead. Heh.
But now: FOOD TIME. :D Toodle-pip, flist. *hugs everyone*
