(action for anyone in the hospital) [spoilers for Death Note]
[Since Giriko snapped Luke's neck, B has stayed in the hospital in peaceful boredom while his burned arm heals. After 5 days in the hospital, B's drone wife finally takes notice. Upon her arrival, he notes that she has mail for him. Among them, he finds a small package. She gives a hollow smile, and says she hoped it would make him feel better. A package, not an envelope, that contains a book as far as he can tell. He is expecting manga. Excited, he rips it open, to instead find a book. A book written by an author named "M." He frowns. A one-letter name... B asks his wife to leave. She kisses his forehead and walks off obligingly. Holding the book up with his good hand, he reads.

... This was already very interesting. But ten pages into the book, it almost slipped out of B's grasp. Instead, he caught it, his fingers digging into the page and leaving deep nail marks.
"L. The century's greatest detective. In light of his staggering mental abilities, L died an unjust and untimely death."

B's breath had stopped, but his heart was in his throat. This was stupid. It was a joke. He almost stopped reading then and there.
But he finished the prologue. Part of him wanted to believe that it was a ridiculous fiction, but there it was- linking L to the Los Angeles BB Murder case. The public didn't know that. Only someone from Wammy's could possibly have known.
Why, if L was dead, was someone from Wammy's writing about him? No, it wasn't a book about him. It was a book about L that had him in it. Something no student of Watari's would dare to do if it wasn't true. And yet, his doubts remained. An "idiot shinigami" was mentioned. And shinigami were not real. ...And yet, here he was in Mayfield, where if someone claimed to be a shinigami, he would be less than surprised.
It's stupid.
It's STUPID.
He puts the book down, gets out of bed, goes into the corner, and sits like L did.
Does.
But his reasoning does not seem to raise by 40 percent, and his breath doesn't steady.
