If there’s one thing people can scare me away with, it’s talking about art. I’m really not interested in art at all and going to an art museum is like one of the most boring things I could imagine doing. (With shunga being the exception. Because they’re shunga. And I’m a perv.)
I do like photography, so that would be entirely different. But art is absolutely not my turf. My grandpa used to be friends with a lot of art teachers and made me meet them and talk about art. It was really very boring. Only one of them was totally into Einar Magnus Andreas Wegener a.k.a Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener’s art and their lives. I admit that it was their lives that fascinated me way more than their art. With Lili Elbe being a transgender woman and with debates about whether Gerda Wegener was actually a lesbian. It... helped to find their art at least a bit interesting. *g*
I had almost totally forgotten about this, until The Danish Girl hit the cinemas last year. I haven’t watched it yet and don’t really know if I want to, because it seems to leave out a few things I find really important for their story, so it’d be questionable whether I’d like it.
