*yawns*

I've been writing like mad the last few days, trying to finish my nanowrimo novel (www.nanowrimo.com) before the vacation is over. I've been writing to the point where my fingers hurt. But oh well, I'm still 16,000 words short. I can do it. I can do it.
I'm watching the news as I'm writing, and there is all this stuff about the holidays. Is it so awful that I don't like Thanksgiving and Christmas that much? I mean, I don't mind the good food and the presents and the time I get off from school, but the attitude that people have around this time is so disgusting I really don't like it.
I don't like the fact that I can't go hang out at the mall and go to my favorite restaurants without there being a huge swarm of people. I hate the fact that on the news, there are shots of people literally elbowing others out of the way, trying to get to the toys/clothes/electronics they want. It is SO disgusting how people act, that instead of cheerfully fulfilling their Christmas shopping list, they are dashing at breakneck speeds, trying to out-do the shopper beside them, forgetting the ideals of jolliness and making merry.
I guess that even during the supposed most cheerful time of year, where we are meant to spend mindless hours beside the fireplace, popping hot roasted chestnuts into our mouths and sipping rich hot chocolate, topped with fluffy whipped cream, human nature prevails. Everything on TV is about the Holidays, and it just seems like such an incredibly materialistic and consumeristic time.
It sort of makes me sad.
