Bamf!

Okay, so I know I said I'd be locking World of Warcraft posts to a filter, for people who are actually interested, but I had to share this one. It's too effing funny not to share.

Short background, I was trying to get to a place in the game you're not supposed to be able to go. You need to wallwalk, basically walking on damn-near-vertical surfaces. Not easy, you tend to fall to your death if you don't know what you're doing.

Short background, part two. The game map is divided up into zones, and characters belong to one of two factions, Alliance or Horde. Each zone is either Horde, Alliance or Contested.

Getting to the secret village goes from Contested territory to Alliance territory. I play a Horde character. Final thing, when you die, you resurrect at a graveyard in the zone in which you die. So I get far enough to cross over into the Alliance territory, called Darkshore. I die soon thereafter. Resurrect. Look around, cause figure, hell, I'll never be able to see it on my own, I'll get killed. See a Night Elf PC - one of the Alliance. I could kill him, but he can raise a bunch of friends, I have little doubt. Time to teleport out.

Teleporting takes about 30 seconds. I spin around slowly as I cast the spell, to see if anything's coming. At the last moment, I finish turning, and see a Night Elf on top of me. With his axe coming at my head. Being hit'll terminate the spell, so I'd have to fight him off and find a safe ground for a half a minute - not easy. But as his axe is falling, my computer hiccups... as it loads the zone to which I teleported. I can't even begin to imagine how that much have looked for the Elf, him executing the attack and then me just vanishing as his swing fell. I seriously bust up laughing, especially because the game actually renders this look on the Elf's face like he's yelling as he attacks. And it was frozen there for a second while the new zone loaded. Priceless. If I was only ready for it, I'd've gotten a screenshot. Not sure if it'd've worked though, it might not have registered until I was back in Moonshade. Still, not one I'll forget any time soon ^_^
