Why do you give gifts on Christmas?
"Huh?"
Shaymin sat atop of Ash's head, watching the festivities. Pikachu had been playing with the other Pokemon under the tree, and aside from Piplup, Buneary, Happiny and others, Misty had returned along with May and her brother, and Togetic and Charizard visited for the holiday season only. Togetic flit to the star above the highest bough, and Charizard did his fair share of frying his old trainer for old time's sake. Delia, Johanna, Oak and Rowan shared hot chocolate and a good chat, and Tracey was making a pencil replica of the Christmas Tree itself. Even Gary and Brock's siblings had come, the latter all bundling into Santa's lap.
Not everybody is grateful on Christmas. Why give anyone gifts if they don't thank you for it later?
"I don't think it's the gifts we're grateful for, Shaymin." Ash smiled.
I don't understand.
"It's good to see everyone again, isn't it? I guess that's what makes Christmas special. Everyone is so happy!"
One by one, Brock's brothers and sisters left Santa's side, excitedly running up to their older sibling and waving in front of him bags of candy and their new toys from Christmas Eve.
You give gifts just because you love them?
"That's right!"
Shaymin sighed, breathing the holiday cheer inside. Her quills blossomed with Glacideas like pink poinsettias. While she wasn't told exactly why one felt grateful at Christmastime, it was one of those things that was better explained without words.

I got a Christmas present for you! As she said this, the hedgehog yanked Ash around, steering him in the opposite direction. More specifically, in the lines of his old rival Gary.
"Yo Ash!" Gary shouted. "Santa hats are supposed to be red, you dumbass."
I'd look up if I were you. Shaymin was smug, hopping off to the floor with a sly grin. Gary was flabbergasted, staring back and forth between Ash and the ceiling.
"Whuh? WHA!?" Ash caught on and he spotted the mistletoe hanging above, as if Shaymin was still on his head smirking at him.
You should be grateful. It's Christmas!
