If your characters are interesting, have a great chemistry (positive or negative) that it wraps me into their world, they can be talking about the joys of watching paint dry for all I care. 1. This is actually a complicated question! No, seriously. Basically, I used to hate it way back in the day when it was the biggest ship in the fandom, only because I seemed to have the luck that dictated I need to encounter only the obnoxious Ash/Misty fans. Also, I never liked how OOC Ash/Misty fics are. Nowadays, I'm okay with it, but it's not my OTP.

2. I'm okay with it because I've been able to meet a number of pretty cool Ash/Misty fans, and I can definitely see how these two can pair up. I mean, some of the evidence that people bring up is kinda hard to argue against, and they are cute together. On the other hand, I still hate how OOC most of the fic is. :| It's possible to write future!fic or reunion!fic without bashing characters and making both Ash and Misty unrecognizable, guys ( ... )

You know, Ash Ketchum is also how I got started in the Pokemon fandom in the first place (watched the anime first before playing the Pokemon games). It kind of makes me sad a lot of fans keep saying Ash has no characterization and Red is much better than him. I can understand not much development with him has been going on for 200+ filler episodes and such, but there are SOME episodes where he has character development if you can catch them (no pun intended :P ).

And dang it, you remind me I still need to do that "Ash needs to buy milk and shenanigans happened" plotbunny. XD;

Hm, as for your meme, I'm going to go with HaruhixTamaki from Ouran High School Host Club. :P

HARUHI/TAMAKI, YOU SAY?

1. It's seriously one of the few canon ships (as in, not strongly implied but actually confirmed) that I like.

2. Admittedly, part of it is because it's Ouran, and while it's sort of a given that they'd end up together, it's just too ridiculous not to love it. But mostly, it's because of the character dynamics. Haruhi is oblivious only when it comes to picking up on who has a crush on her, and even then, she's such a massive deadpan snarker that she clashes thoroughly with anyone who's as over-the-top as Tamaki. Tamaki, meanwhile, is a romantic who's oblivious to his own feelings, and at the same time, he's extremely flamboyant and a major dork. Also, he obviously cares deeply for Haruhi in ways that aren't just "YOU'RE HOT LET'S DATE" kinds of levels, and that brings on the warm and fuzzies. In short, I guess you could say it's because it's hilarious to watch them together, and on top of that, it's sweet to see two genuinely good people end up happy together ( ... )

Oh, of course people would take you srsly, Breezy, for the Pokémon fandom is srs bsnss. /irony

1. I have never thought about this pairing, but I would totally ship it.

2. It starts off with the two of them sitting in a room, talking about how much Ash is a dumbass. Iris regales Misty about Ash's recent dumbassery, and Misty tells her lulzy stories about their journeys together. And then, they realize they have a lot in common. They both think their respective types are SUPER-AMAZING. Misty is envious of Iris's hair, and Iris appreciates seeing a sane girl around who isn't Cilan. And then one thing leads to another, and they're making out all over the floor.

In other words, the same reason why I ship all of Ash's female companions together. Because it's hilarious, and if you put them in the same room together, they'd be more likely to go, "OMG, YOU'RE MY JUNIOR/SENIOR."
