Gorgeous chapter.

I do like the five and and half X thing. It's used a lot in fandom, but I definitely think something like that *would* resonate with Rose.

“Nina,” said Rose, “since when did you start eating raspberries?”

Is it bad of me that I started trying to think of five million complicated plot related reasons why Nina might suddenly be eating raspberries? XD

“I don’t think so,” replied Dex, and the spoon flew out of his hand and clattered against the cereal box, which was knocked over, spilling out over the floor. By the time the mess was cleaned up, Rose had forgotten to ask what her son meant.Dex is far too smart for his own good, sometimes ( ... )

Hee, so much to comment on here...

Nope. Just one very simple reason: she, like Dex, knows the tables have turned now.

as well as what he's been learning off the guards

There was, in the original version of this chapter, a whole thing where the guards are actually teaching him these things, and lots more, told from their POV. But it didn't fit with the final version of the chapter, which is told entirely from Rose's POV, and I decided in the end not to break that. Which is too bad, because the guards totally love Dex.

The quote from the book on Torchwood is very interesting and sweet at the same time.

*grin* And familiar, I should hope; you read its twin not too long ago.

I liked Rose's repeated comment that she's the strange woman in the market place, as well as Jackie refuting that.I almost forgot to put it in, actually - I never liked that Jackie worried over this. All children ( ... )

Side story?

Maybe. It'd be a awfully short side story, and I sort of feel like it was already told, anyway. There's other things I gloss over I think I'd rather tell instead! :)

I hope you do, 'cause there's lots in earlier chapters that ought to pop out for you now. I want to hear if you see them!

First of all:

I enjoyed the similarities between this part and the very beginning of this series before Rose ever went through the Crossroads. She really should know to pay attention to the proliferation of symbolism.

You. Win. Totally, unquestionably, win. THANK YOU for spotting it, THANK YOU for saying it. Name your prize.

(Seriously. Name it.)

The farewell between Jackie and Rose was beautiful, but nothing compared to Rose calling the Doctor by his name. :)

Oh, I'm glad. I didn't think anything could top the Doctor waking up by saying Rose's name.

I can't wait for the last part!

I look forward to seeing what you all think of it.

But seriously. Name it.

Oh, this was such a lovely chapter. I'm so glad the Doctor's home, and I love that it was his name that woke him. I loved how Dex was almost panicked at not knowing his name, but that Rose knew it. I loved that it had to be Rose. Just so wonderful.

Thank you!

Poor Dex...so absolutely positive he knew what was happening, right up to that point. I felt almost evil, making him upset like that...
