Someone brought a cake to the embassy yesterday. Yellow with chocolate icing, which is generally one of my faves. The icing in particular was extra yummy, and I must track down the baker to find out what he used. (Yes, the baker was a "he". Great big Army guy who looks totally ridiculous in an apron but makes very yummy cakes; I lent him a ten-pound bag of flour about three weeks ago.)

I may have come to terms with the cats being gone - I spent yesterday afternoon laying the rugs back out. I've shifted them around a bit, too, so now I can see my
Christmas rug from the computer. Cold comfort, really, to a cat sitting on your neck while you're watching TV. I miss the kitties.
In other news, I would like to remind you all that Wednesday is International Women's Day. Widely celebrated throughout the former Soviet block, it is a day when women all over the world are to be loved, pampered, and treated like queens. Locally, this means that we are required - required, mind you - to do nothing but sit on the couch, watch TV, and eat chocolate. Oh, and we get flowers. And the men have to cook. I love this holiday.
