Today is the first day hotels are open again in Poland, and I wonder how many people went somewhere for the sole purpose of taking advantage of that. The big day - as far as I'm concerned - is next week, when outdoor dining at restaurants opens up for the first time since October. (Weather aside, it never really closes, so the only reason we haven't been able to do it at all is because of the pandemic.)

I have every intention of taking advantage. There is a Costa nearby with outdoor seating and my name on it. I've also marked a bunch of cafes that appear to have outdoor seating in normal times (you can tell, because they've dragged all their chairs and tables to the wall and roped them off so no one tries to sit in them), and I might pop my laptop on my bike and go on a tour.

The photo book I ordered of Cleo arrived last week. Charlie in particular was fascinated by it, looking at it page by page and talking about some of the pictures, especially the ones with he or Andrew. It turned out really nicely - it's got a fabric cover with a peekaboo window, and the photo of Cleo is older, but she looks sweet and contemplative and totally innocent. I am still not entirely sure how to insert photos here (why, oh why, does this have to be difficult?) or I'd put it here, too. The book is sitting on my desk currently, and I keep glancing over at it because the angle makes it look like she's looking right at me, just as she always did.

But I can look at pictures of other cats now, and all the cat gifs that appear online, and it doesn't hurt or make me impossibly sad. I figure that's improvement. Charlie and Andrew still talk about wanting to get a dog and a cat, but whereas Charlie was first determined to do it tomorrow, they're back to putting the time frame at some point in the future. (Both pets at the same time, though, and I am very much on board with this idea. I wonder how much of missing Cleo now would be eased if we'd kept her brother Modi - not that I know if Modi is still alive or not, for that matter, but I think you get the idea.)

I took Andrew to Decathlon today for shoes - he's got bigger feet than I do now, which of course was always going to happen, I just didn't think it'd be when he was 11. He's also within an inch of me, height-wise, which is just scary to me and delightful to him. We got him two pairs - hiking shoes for tromping around in the mud, which we do frequently now, and tennis shoes, because he plays on a clay court and that shit lingers. And as we always do when we go to Decathlon, we ended up wandering through all the different sections and finding random things to throw in the cart. I don't think there's a sport in the world that doesn't have some section there - even baseball and American football have a corner. Andrew talked me into a few things (snorkels, among other things). I had to draw the line at darts, though, because I might be soft but I'm not stupid.

And lastly, I wore a dress today, because the weather was nice and I wanted to.  Cross-posted from Dreamwidth. Comment in either location.
