If it helps, I've never signed up for an author's newsletters because of anything being given away. If I sign up, it means I want news of coming books/stories delivered to my mailbox (it's so easy to lose track of authors otherwise!). So anything you offer might just be bonus.
Yeah, same here. But signing up for an author's newsletter isn't something I typically do anyway - which is probably why I have such trouble with mine, I don't know what could be done with it, since I rarely see what other authors are doing with theirs! The common thread seems to be the whole "I will never sell your email address or spam you with newsletters every day!" (Neither of which I do, or ever will do.)
Same, I'm only signed up for three of them. One of them sends out short stories now and then (and sometimes news with them), one sends out news/many, many requests for review, and the other one sends out nothing at all.
Maybe you could sign up for a bunch of them to see what others are doing?
