In no particular order:
1. I have been trying not to do the List Of Things format, because I realize that every time I end up doing List of Things, it's a sort of bellwether for me not posting as frequently. But these are Unusual Times, and I actually do have many small things to mention.
1a. Much to my surprise, it is not spelled bellweather. I mean, I always pictured the weather turning all blowy and ringing some far off bell as warning. Maybe that was just me.
2. DPO arrived this week. Andrew's meds were not included. My new Zennis were, however, and they are very nice. I realized a few months ago that I didn't have a back-up pair of glasses; this realization, btw, came just as Charlie grabbed my current glasses and nearly stepped on them. I decided to go for the blue-blocker lenses - I know they aren't exactly proven to actually do anything to protect your eyes, but I have historically had dry-eye when I spend too long on the computer, and until the pandemic closed down the world, I was spending easily 4-5 hours on my laptop writing every weekday, so I figured it couldn't hurt. I ended up getting
blue plastic frames - because blue blockers, right? And they actually fit better than almost any other pair I've ever owned, so color me happy.
3. Andrew has had two Zoom meetings with his teacher and a few other kids from his class, and he is so joyful every time he logs in, I kind of wish they'd do it every day.
4. I purchased many bags of flour when shopping on Monday, which of course means I have done very little baking at all this week. Today, however, I made
this fudge cake for Bill's birthday. It's one of the first things I tried when the lockdown began, and it was so utterly delicious that I was immediately informed that it will probably be everyone's birthday cake for the rest of time. It really is that good, and it's not too hard to make at all. The best part is that it really does get better the longer it sits, and I have no idea why that is, but it's why I'm making the cake today when Bill's birthday is on Sunday; I'm hoping it'll be extra delicious for the extra two days of sitting.
(Or, we just start eating it today and I have to bake a second one. So, so sad.)
4. I think I have figured out why I've been having some trouble with my current WIP. I think it's because I'm trying to turn a novella into a novel, so of course it's resisting. Now that I've figured that out, I'm going to see what I can do to fix that problem. Maybe a novel would be more attainable in the current climate of trying to write romance with Paw Patrol in the background.
5. Lastly... I'm trying to decide if I want to resurrect Pen's blog. Not exactly as its own thing, because frankly I'm well aware that I was pants at that. But I'm already cross-posting these on LJ and DW. It wouldn't be too hard to cross-post them to Wordpress, too. (Maybe not all of them. But most of them.) But I don't know if I want to do that or not. Heck, I can't even think of any good pros or cons for the argument, which is probably telling. Thoughts?
