this is purely for emu's entertainment

i'm not entirely sure how entertaining it shall be. but i shall attempt it in any case.

so i've finished my first week of summer classes. CMSC132 is awesome. the people in the class are rather funny and nelson is of course hilarious. yet despite all this, the lighting in the classroom (dim for the powerpoints) makes me sleepy. i usually manage to stay awake, but i'm always quite discombobulated by the time class ends. so i trek outside in the sunny hot humidity to the MATH building, which is always rather cool (as in cold). 240 is.. mind-numbingly boring, and yet.. it's too bright and uncomfortable in that class to fall asleep. they have these small desk chair things lined up in columns squished together and a disproportionate number of lefty desks. ngh, very not fun. my teacher is a grad student from some foreign country or other, which means his english is only somewhat understandable. and he's going at a ridiculously slow pace and spent about 30 minutes teaching and practicing how to multiply matrices. completely ignoring the fact that i never could quite get that down until a few months ago.. i highly doubt that was necessary.

hmm yeah. let's make this longer. so on friday night, i went to the mall to watch ocean's 13 with supraja&co. &co turned out to be tina and phoebe yay! we ate dinner at panera, while we catched up on stuff, which was quite fun. it's interesting how people change.. but also remain exactly the same. ocean's 13 was funny, not a well-done movie per se, but you could tell that they were just having fun making the movie and it was fun to watch it too.

wheee and yesterday was the gaithersburg adventure. i picked up jeffrey and albert at jeff's house, and then we headed off to pick up kevin. there's something about traveling on local roads that makes you feel like you're not going all that far, even when you stay on them for quite a while. we went to joe's crab shack, which turned out not to be a Maryland crab shack. but that's okay, the food was decent. we told them it was kevin's birthday and they didn't do anything =O which i personally find quite appalling. the mall that we went to was quite pretty--it was outdoors and had a lake! anyhow, we trekked to the movie theater which was huge and rather deserted to watch shrek 3. it was cute and quite good, especially considering it's a third. (this reminds me of ender. :P) in any case, we wandered around a bit before finally conceding defeat and realizing we really did have no idea what to do. vague plans to go eat some real crab and go to a karaoke bar were made. people should come. *cough* :P we dropped kevin off, and then headed back on 108 to go back to clarksville.

somewhere along the way, we decided in our sleepy states that we should do something else. we wandered about for a long while, stealing lidang away from mowing the lawn and dragging xianghai away from his computer, stopping by mcdonald's for ice cream before finally going back to jeff's house. then a lot more pondering occurred, and it was finally decided that we would watch count de monte cristo. the movie was quite good, and dude, i totally didn't know it was a happy ending! but yays. i didn't leave until around 10, which made my mom say in an admonishing tone "ana, it's already 10!" i decidedly ignored her tone and just hid in my room, coming out just long enough for her to ask me strange leading questions that amused me to no end.

and today we're going to an orioles' game to get some bobbleheads! and celebrate max's birthday. yayy.
