we met at Denny's as usual at 7:30. Today our run was in Palos Verdes. Well kind of. We started in San Pedro (kind of sketch) and then ran from there past the Trump Golf Course (ridiculously nice) into Palos Verdes (which is crazy nice due to the fact that rich ass people live there). It was a 17 mile run (round trip). The coaches described it as "tranquil agony." Such a fitting description. The run itself was a struggle. There was one HUGE hill at the beginning that spanned for .5 mile which is ridiculous when you're running uphill for half a mile. Then for the next 6 miles there were random smaller hills. Needless to say, my legs were dying. On the bright side, there were AMAZING views of the coastline, the Trump Golf Course (which overlooks the ocean) and some incredible real estate. Then the way back was more of the same, except it was downhill for the hugeass hill which was definitely welcome. By the end, I was dying. What sucks is, the actual marathon is 9 miles longer than that and I thought 17 was incredibly difficult. (hopefully it was mainly due to the excessive hill-age). Then, we get back, and we have to wait for AN HOUR AND A HALF. For the last person in our carpool to make it back and he never actually makes it back the coaches go drive to pick him up because he says he has major crampage in his legs and can't walk/run (thankfully he had his cell phone). Excuse me for being a total bitch, but SERIOUSLY? AN HOUR AND A HALF OF MY DAY WAS WASTED. He's a pretty hefty guy and he doesn't come to the runs regularly so idk I was pissed off. I realize he's trying, but don't expect to be able to run 17 miles when you haven't run in forever. It just seems so inconsiderate.
