Today We Ran Through The Ghetto

kind of.

Our mileage is building up. A couple months ago our weekday runs consisted of 3 miles Tuesday, 5 Wednesday, and 3-4 on Thursday. Now, we're doing 4 on Tuesday, 8 on Wednesday, and 5 on Thursday. It gets boring running past the same things all the time, so today the coaches decided to mix it up and run West of campus instead of our usual North/South of campus routes. It was SO SKETCH. Every house we passed had bars on the windows, there were some indescribably nasty smells everywhere, idk. It was just really uncomfortable. On the bright side, we ran at a much faster pace than we normally do (I assume to get the hell out of that area as soon as possible) so instead of our 9-10 min/mile pace we averaged about an 8.

We have a 17 miler coming up on Sunday in apparently beautiful (but super hill-y) Palos Verdes. I can't wait. Seriously. The challenge is daunting yet inviting.

In other news, Matt Doyle has the most amazing voice. He plays Hanschen in the now ended show of Spring Awakening on Broadway (but was Melchior's understudy) Hooray bootlegs. But you probably know him as Jonathan. Eric's boyfriend on Gossip Girl. Anyway, he has a seriously crazy good voice. You should listen to him. He's also on the Bare studio recording which is also amazing. In case you care to youtube Matt Doyle, the better songs are: See Me, Bare, and Role of a Lifetime.
