I fall off the LJ wagon a lot, so I'm trying to make it up by providing a random sketchbook page. Yaaaay?
The TCAF (Toronto Comics Art Festival) is now an annual event, or at least is trying to be, so said the guy who works at The Beguiling comic shop where I go every once in a while to pick something up. TCAF used to be every other year, and I remember when it was held on the grounds of University of Toronto. Now it's all annual and at the Toronto Reference Library! If you like comics, go visit The Beguiling. They're good people who do things like organize the TCAF which is something special for the Toronto comic arts community, and while there's stuff from our neighbours south of the border, there's also a strong Canadian presence. I like that we have that, and also the store itself is nice and cosy and the people working there know things about what they're selling. Or you can buy your comics from the Chapters/Indigo chains, that's cool too, but if you're ever in the Bathurst neighbourhood of TO go support them and give em' your business.
(I SWEAR I AM NOT PAID BY ANYBODY AT THE BEGUILING FOR WRITING THE ABOVE)
The page above is coloured with highlighters, because I is claaaaassy like that. Also the scanner does not like any of my sketchbooks and none of them fit on it and the bottom part is cut off. Damn youuuu HP Scanjet. Why must you cut off all things I dooooo. *lift eyes to skies, raise hands in claws of desperation* WHYYYYYYY?
... and here's a random doodle! I'm trying to be better at getting more doodles and artsy fartsy type things done. After a hiatus of several months it's hard to get back into the swing of things, today I stared and stared and stared at my blank sketchbook page for a good couple of minutes before I barfed out the TCAF thing. And even that is mostly text, so FAIL.
I no longer have easy access to Photoshop, so that also has cut down on those "kinda' crappy but a way to get a daily doodle done" Wacom tablet stuff.
I'm sleepy! Baaaah it's only 11:30 pm. My past student self would be laughing right now. Laughing and possibly sad at how I have devolved into someone who gets tired at 11:30 pm on a Saturday. *YAWN*
